The last throes of Casey Sheehan’s Mother’s fame

Mother’s Iraq Protest Plays to Smaller Crowd

Sheehan said she was pleased with the crowd, given that the event coincided with the holiday weekend.

Wow… that quote says a mouthfull. The picture, of course, says much more. It’s nice to see how Casey’s mother is still so well supported by her handlers from the Michael Moore crowd.

Bruce Willis shows how to support the troops

Bruce Willis comes out fighting for Iraq’s forgotten GI heroes – Sunday Times – Times Online

ANGERED by negative portrayals of the conflict in Iraq, Bruce Willis, the Hollywood star, is to make a pro-war film in which American soldiers will be depicted as brave fighters for freedom and democracy.

Not much to say afterall, except – Good on ya, Mr. Willis! Too bad the typical hollyweird response these days isn’t more along these lines.

What’s on your list?

I’m currently reading Robert Spencer’s The Politically Incorrect Guide to Islam (And the Crusades). At several points throughout the book, Mr. Spencer suggests other books that the reader might want to check out. Naturally, I popped over to http://amazon.com/o/redirect?tag=lanoitarcom-20&creative=374525&camp=211173&link_code=ur1&path=subst/home/home.html Amazon to check on availability, and immediately got lost for over an hour just reading the wildly varying range of reader comments added to all the http://amazon.com/o/search-handle-url/002-8708779-3032059?url=index%amp;3Dblended&field-keywords=islam&Go.x=10&Go.y=11&Go=Go books on Islam. In the process, I added a few to http://amazon.com/gp/registry/2UA47WXRFJC9P my “Wishlist” as a means to bookmark them (is there any other realistic use for this?). In a fit of curiousity, I decided to see how my list would appear to someone other than me, and I entered my own name in the “find a wishlist” function. WOW… there’re TWENTY EIGHT wishlists for “Jonathan Murray”! I just browsed through each of them and learned a little something about 27 people who share my name. One is a budding cartoonist; one wants to be a realtor; one watches way too many ‘B’ movies (or wants to); and one is interested in Naval history!

And since I’ve now linked my own list here… I’ll make a point to add things to it that will help others learn something about me. I’m not trying to get anyone to buy me things (although you’re certainly welcome to!), just offering another means to share some of my interests. While you’re there, search for your name, too!

Louie’s boys on the loose

Well-Dressed Gang Terrorizes Oakland Liquor Stores

Clad in dark suits and bow ties, a gang of vandals strolled into two Oakland corner liquor stores late Wednesday night and then unleashed a violent attack, terrorizing the clerks, smashing displays and coolers with iron pipes.

The brazen attacks were captured on videotape and thieves seemed not to care that their pictures were being recorded as they looked right into the cameras.

FarrakhanWell dressed, eh? Dark suits, bowties… it doesn’t take much imagination to guess who these fellows represent. (click the link above and watch the video to make the connection for yourself)

So Louis “FEMA is too White to represent us and so is the Red Cross” Walcott/X/Farrakhan/Whatever has inspired his young disciples to clean up their neighborhoods. In the words of the Church Lady, “Well isn’t that special”. Personally, I think Louie is just trying to be more of a traditional Muslim leader – hiding behind the thin veil of religion while inciting violence.

And just because I mentioned her (him)… The Church Lady

On the other hand, I have really good news… http://www.ynetnews.com/articles/0,7340,L-3174956,00.html we may finally be rid of Jacko the sicko.

A message from your friends at PETA

Fish KillerYes, the http://jonathanmurray.com/greymatter/archives/00000727.htm sick bastards at PETA are in attack mode. Their target? Kids whose parents participate in the age old sport of fishing.

Not satisfied with simply demonstrating their love (as in personal, physical love; not “I love fishsticks” love) of fish, these manipulative bastards even go so far as to tell kids that daddy’s bloodlust from catching/cleaning fish may not be sated, and he’ll target the family pet next. Aren’t these lovely things to say to impressionable young people?

Until your daddy learns that it’s not ‘fun’ to kill, keep your doggies and kitties away from him. He’s so hooked on killing defenseless animals that they could be next!

PETA, the ultimate source of http://jonathanmurray.com/greymatter/archives/00000555.htm compassion for animals, now waging psychological warfare on children. Gotta love the compassion for animals, and utter disregard for the emotional well-being of human beings.

How do you support the troops?

I caught a bit of an interview on C-SPAN2 this evening of an interview with former Marine Captain Nathaniel Fick, who authored “One Bullet Away : The Making of a Marine Officer“. I have to admit I’m not too sure how I feel about the man as an author or political/military spokesman (I have not yet read his book), but he did say one thing that caught my attention:

Everyone (disregard the fruitcakes running rampant in Seattle for the moment) says “I support the troops”, but how? How do you support the troops?

Fun on the Beach

local6.com – News – Fla. Lifeguard Drives Over Sunbather’s Head

Sharks in the water, lifeguards on the beach… no one is safe on Florida beaches anymore!

For the second time, a Miami Beach lifeguard driving a truck has run over a sunbather lying on the beach.

Miami Beach Fire Chief Javier Otero said the 3,400-pound lifeguard truck ran over 19-year-old Jillian Gonzalez’s head and shoulder on Sunday. An official said the soft sand likely saved her life because she was able to stand upright after being run over, according to the report.
[...]
“Get me help, get me to a hospital, my face is broken, my face is broken,” Gonzalez said.

Lifeguard Orlando Artiz drove over an embankment and narrowly missed Gonzalez’s friend Daniel Martinez before running over and crushing an ice chest and then running over Gonzalez’s head.

She was treated at a hospital and released.

A similar incident happened in 2003 when two sisters visiting from France were run over by a Miami Beach police officer. One of them died and the other was seriously injured.

After the 2003 incident, rules were established so it would not happen again.

Obviously those rules were quite effective…

Christians? Yeah, right.

So I was following a thread on the Jawa Report regarding critics of C.S. Lewis, and happened across the comments on a “Catholic” blog. Wow, what a bunch of hypocrites (well, at least the two antagonists). Some of this crap sounds like the perversion spewed by certain clerics of certain faiths in certain countries where we are trying to minimize their influence. And these are people who claim to be “holy”, “spiritual”, and “right”. Here are a few choice quotes; note the picture in question is a typical “movie poster”, with no nudity, and only mildly hardly provocative imagery:

“I find it highly offensive that one would consider posting such pictures on a Catholic weblog.”
“Looking at such pictures can be considered a near occassion of sin.”
“Immodest dress is always a near occasion of sin for men. This is why women (and all folks)should be modestly dressed at Mass and whenever out in public.” (how about making them all wear burkhas, you prig? -lano)
“That in itself is not a sin (seeing), but if you reflect upon it and look at her again (especially if with a lustful eye), knowing it is sinful to look at a semi-nude woman, then you have thus fell victim to her, a near occassion of sin she was. Men are weak and tend to fall through their eyes, thus, a woman sins by dressing immodestly in public, and a Catholic puts others in potential jeopary by posting images of immodestly clad women.” (do any catholics really buy this line of shit? why aren’t they all best friends with the immams, then? -lano)
“The beach and the malls today are a reflection of a pagan society which has abandoned God enmasse.”
“To suggest a woman can walk on the beach, with a skimpy bathing suit on, and that is NOT a sin, is just not true.”

Just another fine example why I have utter disdain for all “organized religion”. Prudes, hypocrites, and finger-pointing, self-righteous assholes trying to force their own insecurities on the rest of the world. Too bad the alternative is the apologetic left. Color me politically centrist, please.

Goth Band Promo (Paris Burning)

For the record, I don’t listen to Goth… and these folks don’t seem to be very active this year.

Paris Burning (Image links to band’s website)

Maybe recent events will give them a boost back onto the scene? It’s all about the art, eh?

http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2005/11/11/opinion/main1038363.shtml Why is France Burning?

FOXNews.com – U.S. & World – French Lower House OKs Three-Month State of Emergency Extension After Weeks of Riots

The unrest was set off by the accidental electrocution of two teenagers as they hid from police in a power substation in the northeast Paris suburb of Clichy-sous-Bois.

It’s not that I enjoy hearing about trouble in the people’s republic of France (frankly, I do), but I find it amazing that among all the petty finger-pointing the Euro-peons do towards the US whenever there are problems here, there’s nothing like that towards France today. An entire country under siege from it’s own poor, immigrant population, with the effects spreading across Europe… and the evening news still leads with stories of idiot teenage girls going missing or robbing banks. Are you (the typical television viewer/target audience of the media) really that moronic? They seem to think so.

The Death of Common Sense

I do not know who to attribute this eulogy to, but I thought it worth posting for you to read.

Today, my friends, we mourn the passing of a beloved old friend, Common Sense. Mr. Sense had been with us for many years. No one knows for sure how old he was, since his birth records were long ago lost in bureaucratic red tape. He will be remembered as having cultivated such value lessons as knowing when to come in out of the rain, why the early bird gets the worm and that life isn’t always fair. Common Sense lived by simple, sound financial policies (don’t spend more than you earn) and reliable parenting strategies (adults, not kids, are in charge). His health began to rapidly deteriorate when well-intentioned but overbearing regulations were set in place. Reports of a six-year-old boy charged with sexual harassment for kissing a classmate; teens suspended from school for using mouthwash after lunch, and a teacher fired for reprimanding an unruly student, only worsened his condition. Mr. Sense declined even further when schools were required to get parental consent to administer aspirin to a student, but could not inform the parents when a student became pregnant and wanted to have an abortion. Finally, Common Sense lost the will to live as the Ten Commandments became contraband, churches became businesses and criminals received better treatment than their victims. Common Sense finally gave up the ghost after a woman failed to realize that a steaming cup of coffee was hot, spilled a bit in her lap and was awarded a huge financial settlement. Common Sense was preceded in death by his parents, Truth and Trust; his wife, Discretion; his daughter, Responsibility; and his son, Reason. He is survived by two stepbrothers; My Rights and Ima Whiner. Not many attended his funeral because so few realized he was gone. If you still remember him, pass this on. If not, join the majority.

What’s for dinner?

So my https://secure.lodgemfg.com/storefront/product1.asp?menu=logic&idProduct=3948 dutch oven is all seasoned and cooking like a champ – and I went hunting for a new recipe. I came across http://papadutch.home.comcast.net/dutch-oven-recipes.htm#Recipes this site, and decided to try a variation of the “Chicken and Potato Delight”. The recipe as given is quite a lot, so I knocked it down a bit – and rather than dig a fire pit in the backyard, I cooked it on and in the oven.

4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
1/2 lb. bacon
1 cup grated cheddar cheese
1 medium yellow onions; diced
1 cup fresh mushrooms; sliced
1 tsp. seasoning salt
1 tsp. poultry seasoning
1/2 tsp. garlic salt
6-7 medium potatoes; peeled & sliced
(1) 10 ½ oz. can cream of mushroom soup
1 lb. frozen broccoli
salt and pepper to taste

Stovetop (Medium)

Heat dutch oven until hot. Cut bacon into 1 inch slices. Add to hot oven and fry until brown. Cut chicken breasts into bite size pieces. Add chicken, onions, mushrooms, and the seasoning salt to the bacon. Stir, then cover and cook until onions are translucent and chicken is tender. Add potatoes, stir in soup and the remaining seasonings. Salt and pepper to taste.

Oven (350 degrees)

Cover and cook for 45-60 minutes. Stir every 10-15 minutes. When done, stir in frozen broccoli, cover with cheese and replace lid. Let stand until cheese is melted.

My only regret is in not draining off the excess bacon grease before adding the potatoes (I’ll remember that next time – that sort of thing doesn’t seem to be important amongst people who write “camp” recipes). The finished product tasted fantastic, but I think I felt my cholesterol level jump up a few hundred points.
