Dead

According to the major news outlets, Saddam Hussein is now dead; executed for the first of a stream of crimes against humanity, namely his own people.

Good riddance.

By all accounts, the initial response from the Iraqi people are celebratory. Perhaps this will reawaken the “common Iraqi” to the fight that needs to be taken to the insurgents, terrorists, and various other piss ants who still yearn for a life under savage dictatorship. One can hope.

Merry Christmas

If you’re not a Christian, then consider the statement for how it’s meant: Best wishes on the day designated to celebrate Christian values.

If you are, I guess you don’t need any further direction.

If you’re sitting there reading blogs on Christmas day, you have your priorities a bit mixed up… please go away and do something with your family, your friends, or (even better), go do something nice for complete strangers. I’m sure any homeless shelter would welcome another set of helping hands today.

Personally, I’ll be feasting on something like this:

Spiral Cut Ham

Vegetarians, islamists, and everyone else who foolishly thinks ham is wrong for eating… thank you! More for me!

PS. If you really need to kill some time (maybe while that ham or turkey bakes…) try this!

Interesting Things This Week

I may make this a regular posting for these weeks when there isn’t much that makes me want to rant… Here are some things I’ve read/seen that I thought were pretty interesting this week:

Danny Bonaduce vs. the “9-11 Truther”
The original interview (Very entertaining!)

Barrack Hussein Obama? Sure, it’s only a name, but can the American voter seriously consider electing this man president? Call it Nomatophobia or maybe Onomatophobia if you will, but I sure hope not.

Why “the right to wear the veil” is complete and utter bullshit (a real-life example). You can’t walk into a bank wearing a mask; you’ll be stopped and possibly arrested on the spot. Why would anyone be stupid enough to allow people to board planes wearing masks? Religious practice, my ass – it’s just another way for the islamists to pull the wool over our eyes.

This is almost too stupid to believe – Baby put through X-ray machine at LAX.

What story does this picture tell?

Vintage photo of dead horse raises questions

A vintage Sheboygan photo, taken before the turn of the 20th century, has sparked some conversation in the community since its inclusion in The Sheboygan Press’ 2007 calendar.

The photo, which is inside the calendar’s front cover, shows a scene at Eighth Street and Indiana Avenue, looking north toward the Eighth Street bridge.

In the photo, a dead horse lies in the street, roped off with string tied to stakes in the dirt road. A man in a top hat, bow tie and jacket sits on top of the horse, and people in the background are standing still, looking toward the camera.

I emailed the Sheboygan Press the following:

It’s not really a caption, but I can relate it to a modern day scene we’re all familiar with:
The horse died (broke down) in the road. Being a responsible horse-operator (driver), the rider put out road markers (traffic cones), called for a cart (tow-truck), and sat down to wait. Passersby (rubberneckers) stop to stare, blatantly tying up traffic in either direction. Sadly, he’ll how have to explain to his date why he was late picking her up for the opera.

Duke “Rape” case: Nifong continues to amaze

The plot thickens… not only did the Durham DA know there was no evidence to indict the Duke lacrosse players, he actively sought to conceal that information. Too late for the citizens of Durham, they were already suckered into re-electing this moron. We can only hope it’s not too late to dump his dumb ass, save the future of these young men, and get their accuser the psychological help she obviously needs. Maybe good old Jesse Jackson will volunteer to pay those fees as well?

newsobserver.com | Head of DNA lab says he and Nifong agreed not to report results

Durham County District Attorney Mike Nifong takes a break today during a hearing at the Durham County Judicial Building in Durham. Nifong leads the case against three former Duke lacrosse players charged with sexually assaulting an exotic dancer hired to perform at an off campus party in March.

The head of a private DNA laboratory said under oath today that he and District Attorney Mike Nifong agreed not to report DNA results favorable to Duke lacrosse players charged with rape.

Brian Meehan, director of DNA Security of Burlington, said his lab found DNA from unidentified men in the underwear, pubic hair and rectum of the woman who said she was gang-raped at a lacrosse party in March. Nurses at Duke Hospital collected the samples a few hours after the alleged assault. Meehan said the DNA did not come from Reade Seligmann, David Evans, or Collin Finnerty, who have been charged with rape and sexual assault in the case.

The direct questioning of the DNA lab director was rather revealing…

Did Nifong and his investigators know the results of all the DNA tests? Cooney asked.
“I believe so,” Meehan said.
“Did they know the test results excluded Reade Seligmann?” Cooney asked.
“I believe so,” Meehan said.
Was the failure to report these results the intentional decision of you and the district attorney? Cooney asked.
“Yes,” Meehan replied.

The Left sure does argue funny

I haven’t quoted these guys in a long time, but this one stands out as well worth highlighting.

The same idiotarian leftists continually denigrate the problems in Iraq (blame America!), while proclaiming the glories of the communist revolution (Che Guevara?). Amazingly narrow visioned.

The Hatemonger’s Quarterly

It’s very quizzical, is it not? To our buddies on the Left, the civil strife in Iraq is proof positive that the case for invasion was wrong and evil. But the millions and millions killed by dozens of Communist governments during the course of the 20th century don’t prove Marx, Engels, and countless faculty lounges wrong.

The liberation of Iraq was attempted once, and it is still too soon to determine what the result will be. The world witnessed numerous Communist governments, and they brought disaster and mass-murder every time. The Left sure does argue funny.

Good news for NC for a change

At long last, someone is taking the walking joke that is Mike Nifong to task for his blatant abuse of his community’s guilt and fear to further his political career. In case you don’t follow NC news (and one could hardly blame you for that little oversight), the case was entirely based on the incoherent accusations of an exotic dancer against a frat-house full of lacrosse players. Her story changed a few times, her female companion disagreed, the evidence damned her claims, and everything about the case showed her accusations to be dubious at best.

Mike Nifong blatantly used the racial overtones of this case to gain re-election. Now, finally, someone has found the testicular fortitude to throw down the bullshit flag.

newsobserver.com | Rep. Jones asks for Nifong investigation

A North Carolina congressman has asked the U.S. Department of Justice to investigate Durham District Attorney Mike Nifong’s handling of the Duke lacrosse case.

In a letter to Attorney General Alberto Gonzales, U.S. Rep. Walter B. Jones said Nifong may have engaged in prosecutorial misconduct and violated the civil rights of the three lacrosse players charged with raping an escort service dancer hired to dance at a team party in March.

The players have emphatically said they are innocent and have said the accusations are lies.

While I’m glad to see this, I have to ask: Why did it take so long?

Casey Sheehan’s Mother Reaches New Low, Hasn’t Stopped Digging

I guess when you’re an attention whore, it no longer matters that you’re bringing nothing but shame on the memory of your fallen-hero son.

‘Peace mom’ convicted of trespassing – Yahoo! News

NEW YORK – Peace activist Cindy Sheehan and three other women were convicted of trespassing Monday for trying to deliver an anti-Iraq war petition to the U.S. Mission to the United Nations.

A Manhattan Criminal Court judge sentenced them immediately to conditional discharge, which means they could face some form of penalty if they are arrested in the next six months, and ordered them to pay $95 in court surcharges.

Deputy Indicted in Thug’s Death

A 34-year old former Deputy Sheriff has been indicted for murder in the death of Peyton Strickland, whom I have written about previously. While this might seem like a wonderful opportunity for me to “apologize” for my stated opinion of the deceased, I’m afraid that won’t be forthcoming.

As I said before, the kid didn’t deserve to die for his crimes, but he was in fact a violent criminal and a thug. The police who were sent to apprehend him were sent after a violent criminal and a thug. The deputy who killed Strickland may have overreacted, and it’s all well and good to read the “Monday-morning-quarterback” version of what may have prompted him to fire his weapon, but the facts remain unchanged: It was a high-stress situation, the potential for violence was expected, force was brought to bear against that violent potential, and force was used. Right or wrong, it cannot be denied that Peyton Strickland had a hand in the creation of the situation that brought on his death.

In case anyone thinks I believe otherwise, I do believe that Peyton Strickland did not deserve to die that day.

I am also sorry that the mistakes made that day have brought an end to a young police officer’s career.

I welcome your opinions. Even the snarky ones.

Sore loser (emphasis on the “loser”) takes parting shot

My favorite congressional idiot attention monger just couldn’t resist taking a parting shot at President Bush. I’d like to think this is the last we’ll have to hear of this bitch, but I have a feeling she’ll find her way back into the public eye. Maybe she’ll start dating Jesse Jackson — they would make the perfect pair.

BREITBART.COM – McKinney Introduces Bill to Impeach Bush

In what was likely her final legislative act in Congress, outgoing Georgia Rep. Cynthia McKinney introduced a bill Friday to impeach President Bush.

The legislation has no chance of passing and serves as a symbolic parting shot not only at Bush but also at Democratic leaders. Incoming House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., has made clear that she will not entertain proposals to sanction Bush and has warned the liberal wing of her party against making political hay of impeachment.

No chance of passing… so in other words, after years of wasting the taxpayers’ money by not bothering to show up to vote, now she’s wasting just a little more as a meaningless gesture on her way out the door. Cyndy, honey… don’t let the door hit your ass on the way out.
