Obama Fan

Got this one from a friend who likes to forward jokes and such… gave me a chuckle, so I thought I’d share:

A teacher asked her 6th grade class how many of them were Obama fans.

Not really knowing what an Obama fan is, but wanting to be liked by the teacher, all the kids raised their hands except for Little Johnny.

The teacher asked Little Johnny why he has decided to be different… again.

Little Johnny said, “Because I’m not an Obama fan.”

The teacher asked, “Why aren’t you a fan of Obama?” Johnny said, “Because I’m a Republican.”

The teacher asked him why he’s a Republican. Little Johnny answered, “Well, my Mom’s a Republican and my Dad’s a Republican, so I’m a Republican.”

Annoyed by this answer, the teacher asked, “If your mom were a moron and your dad were an idiot, what would that make you?”

With a big smile, Little Johnny replied, “That would make me an Obama fan.”

The Phantom Menace… dissected

If you’re a fan of Star Wars (or at least the first few…), watch this. I never knew how much I hated that movie until it was explained to me here!

Nobel

And here I was struggling to find a reason for it…
The Peace Prize? But How Has Obama Made The World Better?

“Three dead Somali pirates.”

(Harvey at IMAO)

I don’t think that makes it better for the real candidates for the prize.

  • Chinese Human Rights Activist Hu Jia – imprisoned for campaigning for human rights in the PRC, not as worthy as Barack Hussein Obama.
  • Wei Jingsheng, who spent 17 years in Chinese prisons for urging reforms of China’s communist system. — not as worthy as Barack Hussein Obama. (Not to mention the symbolic value of awarding a Chinese dissident on the 20th Anniversary of the Tianenmen Square Massacre.)
  • Greg Mortenson, founder of the Central Asia Institute has built nearly 80 schools, especially for girls, in remote areas of northern Pakistan and Afghanistan over the past 15 years – not as worthy as Barack Hussein Obama.
  • Prince Ghazi bin Muhammad, a philosophy professor in Jordan who risks his life by advocating interfaith dialogue between Jews and Muslims, also not as worthy as Barack Hussein Obama.
  • Afghan human rights activist Sima Samar. She currently leads the Afghanistan Independent Human Rights Commission and serves as the U.N. special envoy to Darfur and is apparently also not as worthy as Barack Hussein Obama.

Obama finally says something I agree with

“He’s a jackass”

In reference to that little pissant rapper after the stunt at the MTV video awards.

Google it if you don’t know what I’m talking about.

Life imitates Cartoons

It’s like the opener for a nice piece of slapstick:   a 15 year old fucking moron walks into an open manhole…

It was an accident waiting to happen — an open sewer and a 15-year-old girl who was texting while she walked.

Alexa Longueira, a high school sophomore, was walking along Victory Boulevard near Travis Avenue on Staten Island Wednesday evening when she felt the earth move and was plunged into smelly darkness.

Shit for brains ends up literally in the shit.  Perfect!

“It was just really gross and it was shocking and scary,” she said. “Because of their careless mistake I got hurt.”

Longueira has deep cuts and bruises and said she now has nightmares about falling, But she also did admit she was texting at the time.

Regardless of whether I’m texting or not if there was a cone there I’m going to see a big orange cone,” she said. “I walk that sidewalk every day, I don’t expect a big hole there.”

Of course it was “their careless mistake”.  Personal responsibility need not apply.

Of course they’re planning to sue.

There ought to be laws against aggressive stupidity.

Ladies and Gentlemen, Chuck Grassley

He’ll be in town all week…

Sen. Kent Conrad (D-ND): Oh, you are good.
Sen. Charles Grassley (R-IA): Your wife said the same thing.

Thanks, Rusty

Shopping for a new laptop?

Okay, so while I’ve been tempted by the rash of “Netbooks” on the market, I soon realized that there were a number of decent laptops on the market for not that much more.  I’m open to suggestions, but I’m doing my own research and reading to find not only the best bang for my buck, but the best deal on the one I finally decide on.  I love the fact that Dell has a factory outlet store that sells “scratch-n-dent”/refurb/off-lease!  I know HP has a similar store, and I’ll be finding the same from the other major players before I stop looking.  Interesting to note that (most) all the big boys get their laptops from a fewunrecognizable manufacturers…  Makes it a lot less important to decide based on a name.

Anyway, while shopping around today, I came across this – I’m afraid some of the features might be out of my price range, but hey, I can dream!

Credit Card Donations

Here’s an interesting thought:  Do credit card companies donate their services to political campaigns, or do they charge a per-transaction fee to them, as they do everyone else?

If they charge, can I actually take money away from an annoying politician by “donating” a penny?

Nevermind, it just hit me… Joe Biden (D-MBNA) is a senator from the state that is reknowned for being a refuge for big credit card companies.  I’m sure they’re covered in that respect.

Making the completely stupid sound perfectly plausible?

I’ve often been amazed at the ability of seemingly reasonable people arriving at obviously stupid conclusions. Especially those whose educational credentials should allow them to know better. Consider the “911 scholars for truth” (website not linked, as I won’t waste my time to find it), and useful idiots like Rosie O’Donnell (spelling? I’m also not going to look that up) who say things like “fire doesn’t melt steel“, and “our own government did it”.

Well, now I’ve seen the light. No, I haven’t bought into their ignorance, I just realize now how artfully such people are manipulated into their completely ignorant, hurtful and often despicable beliefs. From the clever minds at “Debunking 911 conspiracies“, I am pleased to present:

Uncomfortable Questions: Was the Death Star Attack an Inside Job?

We’ve all heard the “official conspiracy theory” of the Death Star attack. We all know about Luke Skywalker and his ragtag bunch of rebels, how they mounted a foolhardy attack on the most powerful, well-defended battle station ever built. And we’ve all seen the video over, and over, and over, of the one-in-a-million shot that resulted in a massive chain reaction that not just damaged, but completely obliterated that massive technological wonder.
