Teacher’s comments about McCain, war stir anger

She asks them why they are you pulling for McCain or Obama. One student says she supports Obama because “he is making good changes” like “not having a fight between Iraq, and having soldiers killed.”

“So in other words,” Harris says, “Barack is going to end that war in Iraq.”

One girls says she supports McCain. When asked why, she tells her teacher “I think it’s because of my parents are going for him, too.’’

Harris points out that the girl’s father is in the military, then says to the class that Iraq is a “senseless war.”

“And by the way,” Harris tells the girl, “the person that you’re picking for president said that our troops could stay in Iraq for another hundred years if they need to. So that means that your daddy could stay in the military for another hundred years.”

The girl appears to be embarrassed and doesn’t respond.

Harris said three children in the class had parents in the military.

Hurray for North Carolina.

Cindy Sheehan arrested at Petraeus hearing

Anti-war activist Cindy Sheehan was arrested Monday in or near the hearing room where Gen. David Petraeus and U.S. Ambassador to Iraq Ryan Crocker are testifying on the situation in Iraq, according to the U.S. Capitol Police.

Sheehan was the face of the anti-war movement before saying in May of this year that she would “retire” from the cause. Shortly thereafter, she announced that she would seek the congressional seat of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.).

Attention whores never learn. Ms. Sheehan has lost any claim to sympathy for the death of her son. Casey Sheehan, our thoughts are with you and the sacrifice you made, but your mother has gone from pitiable to annoying to despicable.

I guess when you’re an attention whore, it no longer matters that you’re bringing nothing but shame on the memory of your fallen-hero son.

‘Peace mom’ convicted of trespassing – Yahoo! News

NEW YORK – Peace activist Cindy Sheehan and three other women were convicted of trespassing Monday for trying to deliver an anti-Iraq war petition to the U.S. Mission to the United Nations.

A Manhattan Criminal Court judge sentenced them immediately to conditional discharge, which means they could face some form of penalty if they are arrested in the next six months, and ordered them to pay $95 in court surcharges.

There is sanity left in the world, and this proves it.

Georgia Congresswoman Ousted in Runoff

DECATUR, Ga. (AP) — Rep. Cynthia McKinney, known for her conspiracy theories about the Sept. 11 attacks and a scuffle with a U.S. Capitol police officer, conceded the Democratic primary runoff early Wednesday in a speech that blamed the media for her loss and included a song criticizing President Bush.

McKinney, the state’s first black congresswoman, said electronic voting machines are “a threat to our democracy” and lashed out a journalists, accusing them of injuring her mother and failing to “tell the whole story.”

“My mother was hurt by someone in the press in this room tonight,” McKinney said after losing to challenger Hank Johnson Tuesday. “One of my assistants needs stitches because of the press that are in this room tonight.”

And in a perfect definition of “sore loser”, the whacko bitch’s staff members were fighting with reporters…

WXIA-TV said on its Web site that a boom microphone had struck members of McKinney’s entourage: “In the confusion, McKinney staffers struck an 11Alive photographer and knocked his camera equipment to the ground.” Earlier in the day, the station said a McKinney staffer had scuffled with another 11Alive photojournalist.

Just disgustingly stupid people to whom the questions are directed.

I have a much more interesting article in mind regarding the calls for UN troops to “fix” things in S. Lebanon and UNIFIL which hasn’t “fixed” a thing in nearly 20 years… but I accidently caught an MSNBC talking head asking Al Sharpton (sorry, the REVEREND Al Sharpton) his opinion on solving the (current) middle East conflict.

Why does this moron get called on for his opinion? Not only has he no diplomatic credentials at all, he’s also a liar, a racist, a hypocrite, and a criminal. (Wikipedia touches on the salient points, but there’s plenty more here, here, here, and… oh hell, here.)

Sometimes I think it’s no wonder some people hate us. We demonstrate our bad judgement so often, afterall.

Have I mentioned my disdain for religion in this post yet? … oh, nevermind, it was inferred when I stressed the word “reverend” up there. Apparently, at some point in his shady past, at least a few people were ignorant enough to consider him a “man of god”. Evil masquerading as religion is not confined to islam afterall, eh? (I say that completely tongue in cheek, as it’s never been the domain of any single religion, but instead a trait they all share at some point)

Good news – less room for the Times to provide aid and comfort to the enemy.

The Times will join a list of several other papers from The Washington Post to the Los Angeles Times that have reduced their size as they cut newsprint and other production costs and try to stem a loss of readers and advertising to the Internet and other media.

Gotta love how they blame their dramatic loss in readership on “other media”, and ignore their own complicity in driving readers away. “All the secrets fit to print” doesn’t seem to be selling as well as Bill Keller would like.
