The trend observed here doesn’t seem to be over, although this time the “next quake” wasn’t very far from the “last quake”. Maybe that’s a good thing.

The quake, which hit at 10:29 p.m. (1329 GMT), had a preliminary
magnitude of 5.0 and was centered off the Pacific coast of Miyagi
prefecture (state) at a depth of about 80 kilometers (50 miles) beneath
the ocean floor, the Meteorological Agency said.
