The Great American Dream… a job.

Yes, I’m job hunting.

I’ve actually been job hunting for about 6 months, although most of the first few months were spent sleeping late, catching up on projects put off for years, reading books I had been meaning to read, and basically enjoying the title “USMC, Retired”.

So… anyone have employment resources they’d like to share? My resume is currently posted at Monster, Hotjobs, Careerbuilder, MilitaryHire, and the DON Recruitment site. I search each of these sites regularly (and get neat little daily email search results) – and have applied for a few of the offerings. I’m guessing that it doesn’t really matter how many potential employers I send my resume to; hell, the more I send, the more likely I am to find one that wants me (and that I actually want to work for).

FYI: If you happen to be an HR director or hiring authority for some company, and you’re looking for a Retired Marine with 20 years experience in logistics, purchasing, planning, supply, warehousing, budgeting, inventory, etc… (if it deals with acquiring, storing, or moving materials, I’ve done it), feel free to drop me a line and I’ll send my resume. I also have extensive leadership experience, am adept with personal computers and all standard software packages, and can shoot a 12-inch spotter from 500 yards with an M16-A2 service rifle. Farther with a scope.

Not sure if that last one will get me more interest, or scare people off.

So there you have it. It’s also the reason I haven’t spent as much time writing here as I have in the past – the blog suffers while my energies are diverted towards the search for gainful employment. Hopefully I’ll be able to get back into the swing of things here before too long.
