Britons being cautious

And can you blame them after the http://jonathanmurray.com/greymatter/archives/00000700.htm attacks on their population Thursday?

Welcome to the West Midlands Police Online Press Office

At 7.45 this evening West Midlands police issued a public warning to people visiting Birmingham City centre after they received intelligence to suggest a threat to the city centre.

The bomb disposal squad has carried out 4 controlled explosions on a bus in Corporation Street, near the Square Pegg public house. This turned out to be a false call. The bomb disposal squad are however, still investigating another suspicious package in the Broad Street area.

Controlled explosions, but no word on what they discovered to be in the packages they blew up. Considering the level of technology available to a modern police force, I’d suggest they wouldn’t have blown them up if they didn’t have good reason to believe they were bombs.

  1. Normal everyday stuff in locked briefcases gets blown up by bomb squads all the time.

Anytime something is suspicious but they can’t ascertain what it is they blow it in many cases.
