The scene: Islamo-nasties out to make a statement to the world regarding the level of their commitment (depths of their madness), and their ability to call on “ordinary” citizens to give their lives for Allah.
The shills: Disgruntled youth and disaffected citizens, easily swayed by charismatic religious zealots (this is a story repeated all over the world); convinced they were acting out to send a message to the leaders of the world’s most powerful nations in one swift, devastating blow.
The overt plan: Use the shills to deliver bag-bombs, with timers set to go off at 10:00am, corresponding with the http://www.g8.utoronto.ca/summit/2005gleneagles/agenda.html opening of the “Group of Eight” leaders conference. Drop the bombs, depart the trains, use Europe’s porous borders to evade discovery by the authorities. If caught, recite prepared statements glorifying “the cause”.
The real plan: Set the timers to go off earlier than the couriers expect. With a rehearsed plan, know exactly where the minions will be, and know that the “real” timing will ensure the shills are caught in the blast.
Do I sound crazy yet? Let me toss a few things out that make me think this could be possible.

“Suicide bombers” that http://www.news24.com/News24/World/Londonattacks/0,,2-10-1854_1736976,00.html don’t appear to meet the criteria for http://www.militantislammonitor.org/article/id/794 people eager to kill themselves. Ok, the 19-year-olds could be your typical brainwashed, starry-eyed rebel teenagers, but a new father with an 8-month-old child at home? It doesn’t seem likely, but then I do not claim to understand anyone as evil as these terrorists.
I don’t know what’s up with the last murderer (the one on the bus). Perhaps, after learning that his friends’ bombs went off early, he realized that he was pretty well screwed and, having missed his train, performed his evil act in desperation. Maybe he didn’t realize what had happened, but only that something had gone horribly wrong – and riding around on a bus trying to figure out what to do, his bomb was set off remotely.
Of course, this is all loosely researched speculation, based more on my own gut-feelings regarding the horrific events of July 7th. While poking around for information, I did come across a couple of others who have thought along these lines, some quite a bit more elaborate than the simple plot I’ve laid out.
Here are a few examples of theories suggesting the bombers were set up to die in the blasts, as opposed to being willing “martyrs”. These theories range from the “possibly plausible” to the “watch out for black helicopters the illuminati are behind it all”. Please note, I do not support these theories, or have enough evidence to back my own loose theory – I present these here to inspire thought. Keep in mind the investigations are far from complete, and as more details are uncovered, these theories will likely lose whatever credibility they may have at the time of their writing.

Afterword: I never realized how entertaining (like watching a car wreck) researching conspiracy theories could be! If even a few of these people were right, it would be safe to assume that everything, everywhere in the world, was being orchestrated by nefarious “men in black”, and we’re all the unwitting slaves to a vast global conspiracy. Free Will? Not in these people’s Orwellian fantasies. Yee.
