Only in America can you be wrong for being normal

So this nice, normal lady makes some “remarks concerning appropriate gender roles”, all apparently based on the way hundreds of millions of normal Americans (not to mention the rest of the world) live, and she gets trashed because she didn’t talk about a lifestyle alien (possibly even abnormal) to her? How amusing.

I guess this is just a sign of the times. Let’s throw out a few more rules so that no one else has to feel offended, repressed, or (*gasp*) uncomfortable.

From now on:
– Religious leaders must all give equal time to the topic of evolution and the theory that aliens are responsible for life on earth.
– Biologists must lecture intelligently on creationism, mythology, and magic.
– Republicans and Democrats shall all be required to entertain each other’s ideas in public forums. (actually, that may not be a bad idea)
– Law enforcement must give criminals a head-start in all pursuits.
– Soldiers must attend sensitivity training before being allowed into the field to shoot terrorists in the head. (nevermind, this one is already somewhat fact)
– Dogs and cats must all get along! (ok, now I’m just being silly)

Just because the gay community has managed to frolick their way into the mainstream, doesn’t mean we’re all automatically endowed with expertise in that lifestyle. In fact, I’m sure many people (myself included), would just as soon such behavior was not flaunted in our face, and sure don’t see any need to mold our opinions to encompass it.

The “Bisexual, Gay, Lesbian, Transgender, and Supporters Alliance” (BGLTSA) can cry all they want over my opinion – although I don’t think I’m high enough in the spotlights to be noticed by such a “lofty” organization. Call me insensitive – I can take it. Better yet, just call me “heteronormative”.

(Hopefully I can find a transcript of her comments so I can mock these morons outright.)
Found some of it, at least. Read on:

Pinkett Smith’s Remarks Debated

Students said that some of Pinkett Smith’s remarks concerning appropriate gender roles were specific to heterosexual relationships.
[…]
“Some of the content was extremely heteronormative, and made BGLTSA members feel uncomfortable,” he said.
[…]
“Our position is that the comments weren’t homophobic, but the content was specific to male-female relationships,” Woods said.

(Edit) Some of the comments that apparently brought on the wrath of the BGLTSA:

“Women, you can have it all – a loving man, devoted husband, loving children, a fabulous career,” she said. “They say you gotta choose. Nah, nah, nah. We are a new generation of women. We got to set a new standard of rules around here. You can do whatever it is you want. All you have to do is want it.”
[…]
“To my men, open your mind, open your eyes to new ideas. Be open,” she added. In an interview after the show, Counter said Pinkett Smith was “the best we’ve had thus far”.

Wow… I’m shocked. No, I’m offended. No, I’m… completely unaffected. My guess is that the BGLTSA is just a bunch of airbags looking for attention.
