Atlanta courthouse murderer in custody

A few minutes ago FoxNews quoted ATF agents on the scene of a situation in Duluth, GA saying that Brian Nichols, yesterday’s courthouse shooter and subject of immense manhunt was taken into custody.

This news followed the announcement that a US Customs Agent had been found dead this morning, presumably killed by Brian Nichols during his violent escape from the Fulton County Courthouse.

One violent criminal. Four dead law enforcement personnel.

If you’re curious as I was; Yes, Georgia has http://www.dcor.state.ga.us/CORRINFO/ResearchReports/DeathPenalty.html the death penalty.

  1. Brian Nichols is quoted by Ashley Smith in CNN that the reason he did it was because he was a "soldier"…he acted like a trained military man not a civilian, it seems to me. Any thoughts?

  2. I saw that, too. There’s been no mention of military service – which I’m sure would have been big news for Fox/CNN/whoever.

My first thought was of some sort of "soldier of god" complex. He definitely seems to have had both an agenda and an intelligent plan (or one hell of a string of good luck). It’ll be interesting to see how this all pans out.
